The Heart of Capetown | 5 Things to Do in Franschoek

The Wine Tram

When we received the invitation to explore Franschhoek, we couldn’t wait to jump on writing this blog entry on the best things to do.  We were encouraged to explore Franschhoek with the wine tram.  Exploring Franschhoek in this mode helps you ingest and enjoy the nature views while stopping at eight glorious wine farms. The wine tram operates like a hop-on-hop-off system, where you can stop at each estate, stroll the vineyards, have lunch, or book a cellar tour.

Shopping on Franschhoek main street

Park your car and take a walk down Franschhoek main street. It is packed with trendy restaurants, art galleries and artisan shops.

Kogelberg Nature Reserve

Visit the nature reserve in one of the protected areas of CapeNature. If you like hiking then the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve is right for you.  It affords you the opportunity to get as close to nature as you can get.

Accommodations |Spotlight: Grande Provence

Located in the Franschhoek Wine Valley, all we can say is elegance, elegance, elegance.  Take a moment and breathe it all in.  Order in advance a prepared Picnic basket by Executive Chef, Guy Bennett. The Grande Country Picnic basket is filled with “Dalewood camembert and preserves, tender roasted vegetables & chimichurri, smoked snoek pâté, estate-made hummus, freshly-baked bread, salted butter & olives, a crisp heirloom garden salad, and decadent Rocky Road Valrhona bar along with a bottle of our award winning Angel Tears Wine & Water. These are all perfectly rounded off with a bottle of Grande Provence wine.” says Grande Provence Heritage.

Franschhoek Pass

The best way to see Franschhoek is to explore by car or bicycle through the Franschhoek pass.  This route affords you with the most spectacular views you do not want to miss.
