South Africa | Our Editor’s ‘must do’ list
Johannesburg UKATULA Lion Lodge – Owned by good friends of our and an amazing experience to interact with the lions. The lunch served is a traditional south african meal and just amazing AMAZING.
Cape Town – Wineries1. TOKARA – Just top class. It is a must do and very very posh.
2. RUST en Vrede – Simply breathtaking scenery and leisurely time tasting wines.
3. VREDE en LUST– Another gem located in Franschhoek Valley instead of Stellenbosch. They don’t rush you as we were able to sip wine and laugh at a leisure time. We only rushed out because we had to drive to another vineyard before closing.
4. GOATSHED at FAIRVIEW. Note a winery per se but participating in the cheese tasting paired with wine after a fabulous outdoor brunch is worth it. GOATSHED at FAIRVIEW. The day was actually started here with a brunch and ended the day at TOKARA.
Cape Town itself
We highly recommend seeing the famous colored buildings in the Bo-Kaap colorful city and of course visiting V&A Waterfront. While there, you can take the cable car up to Table Mountain. Be sure to buy that ticket here in U.S. before you get there and be prepared to wait on long lines.
When in Cape Town, KeyAesthetics Editor likes to dine at these three places:1. Harbour House (Kalk Bay location). Amazing seafood on the ocean while watching the seals sun bath on the rocks. Elegant elegant space very posh and of course plenty of bubbly. Try to make a reservation ahead of time (they will be more accommodating). 2. Karibu (on V&A Waterfront). If you are walking along the waterfront at night and looking for a good place to try local south african cuisine, our Editor has dined here and liked it.3. Gold Restaurant. This is a fun restaurant with active entertainment of south african songs and dance while eating a 14 dish menu. The entertainment was a bit loud and in your face but interesting.
